Bible Text: Matthew 28:6
By: Her Grace Dr. O.Yomi-Sholoye
Bible text: He is not here: for He is risen, as he said, Come, see the place where the Lord by”.
What does the context He has risen mean?
It means the person has been dead and he arose from the dead.
He has risen simply means Resurrection.
What then is Resurrection?
According to Wikipedia: Resurrection also known as anastasis is the concept of coming back to; life after death.
The death and resurrection of Jesus is a central focus of Christianity.
According to our Bible text, The “HE” referred to the Lord Jesus Christ.
The resurrection of Jesus Christ brought salvation to the mankind
Let us go back in History.
Why do we need Salvation and why is the resurrection of Jesus Christ important to us.
In the book of Genesis Chapter 1, God Almighty created heaven and earth, He made man in his image and told him to take dominion over all the things he created.
God gave His dominion power as the creator of the universe to Adam, also Life eternal.
But the dominion and the eternal life came with a warning, which was “Do not eat out of the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for on the day that you eat it you shall surely die” Genesis 2:17.
Adam and Eve were deceived by satan in form of a snake and they ate the fruit which led to the loss of the dominion and eternal life of God.
Mankind lost the face-to-face relationship with God and was chased out of the Garden of Eden.
God in his infinite mercy, According to the book of Joel 2 vs 3b “For he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and replenish him of the evil”.
The love of God for His creations is so much that he does not want us to die. The only way out was to send His Son Jesus Christ into the world as a flesh and blood man.
John 1vs 1 “In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God”
John 1vs 2 “He was in the beginning with God”
John1vs9 “In Him was life, and the life was the light of Man.”
John 1vs 9 “There was the true light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man.”
Jesus lived like us humans, he experienced our human joys and our sorrows, he expressed his compassion for the troubles of the human condition. And then, He offered Himself as the supreme Sacrifice for our sins.
Jesus Christ the Son of God was sent to the world to die for our sin so that man will not die eternally.
John 3vs 16 says “For God so love the world that he gave His Only begotten Son, that whosoever believe in Him will not perish but have “Everlasting Life”
Jesus was sent to save us from the sin we brought upon ourselves.
The death of Jesus Christ
If man had not sin in the Garden of Eden, there will not be the need for the great Sacrifice, salvation, and resurrection but Mankind has lost the dominion-ship and eternal life so there is a need for a supreme sacrifice.
1. To get back our dominion as Christians, we need the son of God to die for our sins
2. To get back our eternal life as Christians, there is a need for God to offer a sacrifice which was Jesus Christ.
The Apostle Creed:
From the apostle, we will see all that happens to the Lord Jesus Christ.
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to hell.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic* church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
Jesus died a cruel death, a death which was outward, full of shame. But in reality, His death was a great triumph! There was a triumph because Jesus of Nazareth though buried like any other man was not captured by death.
Jesus Arose from death, God chose the most dramatic, the most unexpected way of displaying his reality, power, and love for mankind.
Christ died and was raised never to die again proving He was the Son of God.
Reason for the Importance of Resurrection and Salvation.
Without Resurrection there can’t be salvation, If Jesus Christ was not sent to the world, there is no hope for mankind and if he did not die and be resurrected there won’t be salvation. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is as important as the air we breathe in.
The greatest day in history was the day that Jesus Christ came forth from the tomb.
The reason why the resurrection and Salvation is so important to us as Christian can be found in the book of Romans 3vs 23
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”.
The Bible says no sinner shall see the glory of God.
The Significance of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ:
The Stone at the tomb could not stop Jesus Christ from resurrecting, people went to the tomb to look at him but he was no there.
P.P I decree and declare, where you have been always been and the world has known you to always be, as from today they will look for you there and will not meet you there in Jesus name.
The Benefit of the resurrection of Jesus Christ to us Christians
